Where to Write important contact numbers in copy, book etc?

Do you remember the condition where you are on call someone saying to write the important no. and you are tamking a copy or paper and write it down in that. After some time when you have to use that information you don't get that no.s. Do you think why its like so?

Its because when you write down info inside the newspaper or copy as usual. And when you try to search the info you don't get because either newspaper is changed or copy's page is filled with other information or it may be a so many reasons...

So what we can do for this? Simple Just write the information on cover page of copy or newspaper it will be more simpler to search after long time
